The Accord

Background Goal and Objectives Purpose Working Rules

PURPOSE

The states bordering with the Gulf of Mexico are part of a well defined geographical region. The North American Free Trade Agreement enhances the region's already enormous potential for economic development as well as for educational, cultural and social exchanges.

An accord signed by the governors of the eleven states in the Gulf of Mexico basin, from the Mexican Republic and the United States of America, will promote a more substantial approach in this region through initiatives that will increase the flow of investments, agreements and tourism, as well as cultural and technological interchanges within the region, thus allowing for a greater economic integration.
